Our company has been providing valuable Agricultural Consultancy Services, Food Product Testing Services and Agricultural Diagnostic Services. We have set a strong foothold in this sector with our renowned services that are highly beneficial for farming community especially Horticulturists. We are receiving tremendous response for our services. Some of the features of our services are listed below.

• The main plank of the organization is promotion of organic farming. Organization has been able to attract a large number of farmers to join organic farming campaign in the state. This is the first organization who has taken an initiative to promote organic farming with the active and volunteer participation of farmers. We are likely to enroll more than 3500 organic farmers by the end of this year. We are certifying organic farms with the help of SKAL International, SGS India ltd., INDOCERT and USOCA.


• Advisory visits are paid to the farmers fields giving them on the spot advice in solving their problems. This service is provided free of cost to the members of the society and nominal charges are realized from other section of farmers. We have paid more than 3500 advisory visits till date during this year and total visits will exceed 4000 by the end of the year.


• Diagnostic services are provided to identify the problems faced by the farmers by way of attack of insect, pest and diseases. We have diagnosed 3500 samples till date and we shall be diagnosing more than 4000 samples by the end of the year.


• Tests are conducted to establish nutritional status of soil and leaves and on the basis of the results farmers are advised to supplement the nutrients. Our laboratory has analyzed 3100 samples for nutritional status by the end of Dec 2007 and nearly 3500 samples will be analyzed towards to the end of the year.


• Our center has been providing Horticulture help line to “ Divya Himachal” a daily published from Dharmashala and Chandigarh on every Tuesday covering production, protection, post-harvest and processing of all Horticulture crops including vegetables, flowers, herbal & aromatic plants and spices


• We are providing advisory services to Kisan Call Centers where farmers put forth their problems on phone 1551, a free services provided by Ministry of Agriculture GOI and Chairman HIMOARD satisfies their queries.


• The promotion of MAP (herbal plants) is a mandate started by the organization. Keeping in view the rich medicinal and aromatic heritage of these plants in Himachal Pradesh our organization is putting earnest efforts to promote cultivation of these heritage species. Farmers have been motivated to grow these plants as inter crop where orchards have been organically maintained.


• We are making available quality germpalzm to the members of the society in particular and to other sections of farmers in general. The planting material is procured from registered Govt./University/private nurseries being registered with the Deptt. of Horticulture Himachal Pradesh.


• Organizations of trainings viz awareness camps, 1-7 days training camps are arranged for the farmers. We have trained about 8500 farmers till Dec 2007 and 1200 farmers will be trained during the remaining months of the year.

Our organization is organizing seminars and workshops from time to time. Farmer’s visits are arranged with in the state and outside the states. HIMOARD organized training for adoption of Organic Farming under HP Forest Sector Reform Project and trained 80 persons from different pilot locations of Shimla, Kullu and Kinnaur Distts. Awareness camps at Namhol and Ghumarwin Distt. Bilaspur, Churag and Mahog Mandi Distt, Jaon Kullu Distt. and Kepu and Sainj Shimla Distt. where in training was imparted to 272 farmers in Organic Cultivation and Medicinal and Aromatic plants during the periods Aug.-Dec. 2006. During the year 2005-06 one hundred and twenty farmers were given exposer visit to Delhi and Bangalore. Similarly during 2006-07and 2007-08 HIMOARD participated in India Organic, Horti Expo 2008 along with 90 farmers and installed exhibition by displaying 160 entries. We have been able to procure orders for 1500 MT. of Apple, 500 MT. of Apple pulp, 50 MT. of Rajmash, 25 MT. of Black Sesame, 10 MT. of Organic Ghee, 250 MT. of Tomato, 500 MT. of Potato’s and 25 MT. of Red Chillies. HIMOARD participated in India Organic 2007 with 36 farmers at Pusa complex New Delhi. HIMOARD received supply orders for 10,000 Mt. of certified Apple, 500 Mt. of Apple pulp, 150 Mt. of Almond, 1000 kg. of Ghee , 40 Mt. of Rajmash , 1200 Mt. of Potato, 30 Mt. of Red Chillies , 300 Mt. of Turmeric, 500 Mt. of soap nut and 300 Mt. of K.Lime worth Rs. 68.92 crores . It can be easily anticipated that if we are in n a position to supply the requisite quantity demanded by the buyers, farmers who are practicing in organic farming can be benefited to a great extent.

Our organization has been participating in different seminars/workshops/meetings being organized by state/GOI on different occasions. Organization is also providing resource persons required by different institutions for imparting training to the participants.

• Advisory services are provided at clinic as and when farmers come to seek advice on certain problems faced by the farmers. Nominal charges (no profit no loss basis) are affected from the beneficiary farmers with the view to make them realize that the services provided by the clinic are better and useful as compared to the services of the Govt. Deptts.


• Organization is playing a vital role in environment protection and has adopted two villages viz Sangla and Pawari in Kinnour Distt. as pilot locations. Farmers are acquainted with the danger they are likely to confront if environment is disturbed beyond certain level.


• Marketing of organic produce is a mandate of the organization. Organization is exploring best marketing facilities to the organic farmers in harvesting better dividends for their produce. We have tied up with Nutrine confectionary, Pure food ltd., Beta food pvt.ltd. USA , ITC , Serestha Natural Bio-Products Hydrabad , Navdanya Trust New Delhi and panacea Organic Food New Delhi, Yogi Botanicals, Pure Diet Ltd, Modern Foods Ltd, Dabur India Ltd, IITC Etc. for disposal of organic produce of the farmers.


• We are conducting field surveys for outbreak of diseases/pests for assessing the extent of losses to the Horticulture crops. Assessment of losses due to natural calamities like drought, heavy rain fall/ snow fall and hail storms is also done by us at the time of such occurrences.


• Control campaigns are organized to combat different diseases and pests when the threat is beyond Economic Thrash Hold level.


• Our organization has selected a site for establishment of Processing Unit at Nirsu Tehsil Rampur Distt. Shimla that will provide processing services for organic products to the farmers. A facility of CA store and Cool chain will be created in due course of time after coming up of the proposed unit.


• HIMOARD has evolved package of practices for Organic Production of Fruits, Vegetables, Spices, Flowers and medicinal plants.


• HIMOARD is facilitating farmers by inviting quotations from the buyers for their Organic Produce so that a ready market is made available to the organic growers.


• HIMOARD has selected two villages i.e. Deothi Bushar in Kullu Distt. and Sangla in H.P. for adoption as Model Organic Villages where absolute emphasis will be given on organic production of different crops and they will be created as centre of excellence.


• As President Stone Fruit Growers Association of India which is also functioning from the office of the HIMOARD, We organized 62 awareness camps in different Distts, attended 8 state level meeting organized by different Deptts./ organizations, 9 National level meetings were attended besides participating in 4 National level events during the year 2006-07.


• HIMOARD has provided services towards consultation on Horticulture with JAPAN International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for crop diversification and to enhance farm income in H.P.


• We have provided consultancy on Organic Apple and Stone Fruit Production to Tenzingang Tibetan Settlement in Arunachal Pradesh. HIMOARD is giving absolute focus on promotion of organic farming in Himachal Pradesh. Its emphasis will be on reduced/minimum use of chemicals in production process of Horticulture crops. Use of vermin compost, bio-pesticides, bio-fertilizers and bio-agents will be promoted on priority basis. Environmental pollution will be reduced by discouraging use of polluting chemicals and non-degradable substances. HIMOARD will be providing better services as compared to the Departmental extension services provided by Deptts. of Horticulture and Agriculture in the state. We are committed and dedicated to the cause of up-liftment of farming community in the state.
