HIMOARD is an apex non-profit linked cooperative organization. It is providing many services for the promotion of Horticulture Industry in the state. At present it has three arms working under the banner of HIMOARD.
- Plant health clinic has been established wayback in the year 1998 and is providing diagnostic services to the farmers of the Himachal Pradesh. It helps in identification of the problems pertaining to incidence of diseases and pests besides nutritional imbalances in the soil.
- To determine the fertility status of the soil and plant tissues, a Tissue Analysis Laboratory is working for the benefit of the farmers. Leaf & soil samples are analyzed and on the basis of the analysis farmers are advised to supplement nutrients to improve fertility of their soils. The soil health is also examined for presence of microorganisms in the soil. Plant health clinic and leaf analysis laboratory could not be run to the fullest satisfaction of the beneficiaries due to departmental apathy who is not lending a helping hand in smooth functioning of these units.
- Co-incidentally Chairman HIMOARD is an elected President of Stone Fruit Growers Association of India, promoted by Ministry of Agriculture GOI. By virtue of this position matters pertaining to the problems of fruit growers are highlighted before the state Govts. and GOI. As President he has prerogative to attend meetings at the National level for finalization of National policies on Horticulture.
- Very shortly HIMOARD is likely to start analysis for chemical residues in fruits and vegetables before dispatching to the market. This service will help the general public in creating health awareness.
- A processing plant establishment is in offing with the assistance of APEDA, NCDC and MOFPI GOI for processing and value addition of organic produce, which will help in getting remunerative prices in the organic markets.
2Medicinal and aromatic plants cultivation has been promoted keeping in view the primary processing and market tie up for realization of remunerative prices to the growers involved in this activity
